Literally, this means something like “How did the day dawn for you?” in Spanish. As a child growing up in deep south Texas, I remember hearing this greeting so often. It's more than “Hello” , “Good morning”, or even “How are you?” It encourages a response that is more than a echo, or an offhand “Fine”. It's a greeting that embodies wonder, promise, and new beginnings.
