THANKFUL...

This morning I was excited to learn that a cool front is finally approaching, with November not far behind. With fall migration underway, it is an ideal time of year to witness the Valley’s amazing bird and butterfly visitors AND residents. The internationally-acclaimed Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival (Nov. 6 - 10) offers fabulous field trips and expertly-guided excursions (https://www.rgvbf.org) Please visit our booth at the vendors’ exhibit!

Ebony Haven is an excellent place to spend a weekend, a week, or a season - we welcome winter Texans! Happy Thanksgiving!

IT'S STILL SUMMER...

Longing to take a dip in the ocean, or check out a fishing festival? Ebony Haven is just a 30-minute drive from South Padre Island, Texas, where Sand Castle Days (Oct. 3-6) and SPI Fishing Days (Oct. 19-20) await. And fall migration season is underway, if you are interested in fantastic birding opportunities. Treat yourself to a stay at La Hacienda before the busyness of the holidays sets in!

HEAT WAVE

These recent days, and weeks, have dawned hot and dry. but a multitude of shady spots at Ebony Haven bring quick relief, and a heightened sense of the offshore breeze. One of the best parts of the day is a stroll along the driveway at dusk, catching glimpses of emerging bats, which likely spend the day sheltered under palm fronds. (That’s why we don’t trim them!)

MAKING HISTORY

A new day is dawning in the Brownsville community! On May 31, the Central Brownsville Historic District was granted National Historic District status by the National Park Service. Through this designation, a wonderful part of the city “joins the official list of the nation’s historic places deemed worthy of preservation,” according to the BROWNSVILLE HERALD.

Ebony Haven is another of those historic places worth restoring and keeping. Contact us for ways to help, or to arrange a stay.
